This sweet and simple lavender latte the calming drink at breakfast or a mid-day break. With a hint of floral lavender with each sip of this delicious creamy black tea, this will be a cup of calm you need in your day.

I have always loved all things lavender. It is my grandparents’ favourite flower, and smelling it always reminds me of them. Whenever my grandparents would visit us in Australia (they live in Singapore), we would take them to Lyndoch Lavender Farm. We would enjoy some of their homemade lavender scones and lavender tea. This was the first time I realised that lavender could be consumed. Fast forward a few years later, I saw that my favourite tea shop offered Lavender Latte. Of course, I had to try it. Their lavender latte had become my favourite drink. Unfortunately, my favourite tea shop closed down and hadn’t seen other shops that made lavender latte like they did. So, I experimented in the kitchen, and finally discovered this version that is very close to what they had.

How to make a lavender tea at home?

Ingredients
- 2 teaspoon loose leaf black tea (English Breakfast or Earl Grey Tea)
- 1 teaspoon lavender tea
- ½ cup water
- 1 teaspoon Honey
- ½ cup warm frothed milk
- Drinking chocolate powder to garnish
Equipment
- Teaspoon
- Tea pot
- Tea strainer
- Milk frother
- Mug
Instructions
- Boil water and steep black tea and lavender tea together in a small tea pot for 5 minutes.
- Pour tea into a mug about ¾ full. If your tea pot does not have a built in strainer, be sure to pour the tea through a tea strainer first.
- Stir in the honey.
- Froth milk using a milk frother. My milk frother heats milk up, but if yours doesn’t, simply heat your milk up in a saucepan and use a hand-held frother to froth the milk. If you do not have a milk frother, you can still make this recipe, but your lavender latte will not have froth on the top. All you’ll need to do is heat your milk up over the stove in a saucepan before adding it into the tea. When heating up milk over the stove, do not allow the milk to come to a boil.
- Add heated milk into the tea.
- Sprinkle some drinking chocolate powder on top to finish. Serve immediately.

Can I make this lavender latte caffeine free?
Make this drink caffeine free by swapping the black tea out for some chamomile tea. Chamomile tea is known for its calming effect and for improving the quality of your sleep. If you choose to use this tea in your lavender latte, you know you will be extra relaxed!
What is the best milk for lavender latte?
I think the best milk for this lavender latte is, really, your favourite type of milk. For me, I have tried a few kinds of milk (dairy, oat, soy, and almond). I have found that my preferred milk for this drink is dairy milk, as it does not have a distinctive flavour that would alter the taste of the lavender and black teas. But that is just my preference. Feel free to try this drink with different milks and see which is your favourite!
Must I sweeten my lavender latte?
Absolutely not! You may completely omit the honey, or add as little or as much as you desire. Also, you can use your favourite sweetener instead of honey. I’ve tried adding maple syrup instead, and it was delicious too.
Can I make this into a lavender iced latte?
If you would like to make this lavender latte cold, simply brew your tea and let it cool down. Once cooled, I would add ice into a tall glass (about half full), pour in the cooled tea (about ¾ full) and then cold milk to fill the glass. I still like to add a sprinkle of chocolate at the top – not only it looks pretty, but the chocolate gives this drink a velvety taste to it.
